Background

 

ZRW Mechanika is a division of ZRW Holdings. In 2003, the company operated as KE– Engineering operating as a mechanical engineering workshop and boilermaking business. The primary business activity was technical engineering machine-shop and general metal-work for the automotive, mining and manufacturing sector. In 2007 the activities of KE was expanded to incorporate professional engineering services such as design, development and computational methods and analysis. Amid changing domestic economic environment, the business was further restructured in 2008—to incorporate more strategic, research and development and technology services— to what is today known as ZRW Mechanika.

 

Today, ZRW Mechanika is involved in Mechanical Engineering, Professional engineering services, alternate energy products,  strategic support, research & development, technology & innovation development and management and more general project management. ZRW Mechanika has undertaken to acquire an appropriate CIBD rating as well as ISO9001 compliance to ensure the strictest adherence to a well controlled quality management system. Past Work Done

Since its inception ZRW Mechanika has been engaged in several technology related projects:

 

· Research and development of rail systems and rolling stock technologies as a bench mark for future South African expansion in the rail transport sector.

· Development and testing of an in situ non intrusive rail health and usage monitoring system for Transnet, with UKZN.

· Energy networks and grid systems mapping and optimization research for ESKOM,

· Project management of new all-composite load body for a local freight logistics company.

· Design and manufacture (outsourced) of a super Lynx 28T hazardous liquid tanker.

· Project management of new Non destructive testing method to measure non-intrusively, delamination in composite sandwich panels for the rail, and aerospace industry.

· Design and development, project management of first article prototype of a secondary structure compression panel for a kick plate on a large commercial aircraft.

· Design and development of a new laser based measuring system for flow through pipes and jets using high speed camera systems for Airbus and LTRAC Australia.

· Strategic support with the customer Supplier Development Program and technology assistance programs for ESKOM.

· Modeling and simulation of value chain models for principal and metro councils on utilization and loading.

· Product development and design for 2 leading manufacturers in the heavy commercial vehicle market of the automotive sector.

· Commissioning and inspection of infrastructure programs related the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

· Developing industrial development program for the ICT, SPACE and manufacturing sectors in Western Cape.

· Solar Cell technology—Development of a new street lighting electrical system for use in rural areas (Africa and Australasia) using wind and solar energy—in partnership with an overseas OEM.

· Supply of low cost solar system for low cost rural housing in Nigeria and Kenya.

· Customized and more cost effective electronic pricing and point of sales solutions for small medium and micro enterprises.

· Electronic shelf labeling turnkey solutions for small enterprises using real-time updates and paperless and wireless methods—in partnership with overseas OEM.
