The cost of the PV water heating system for a 150L geyser is typically R20 000 fully installed, on a standard installation.
Energy saving capabilities<\/strong>
The system will on average produce 5.5kW per day.
5.5 kWh x 365 days = 2007.5 kWh per year.
Average annual savings 2007.5 kWh x R2.20 (Average cost of electricity) = R4416.50
If an average of 8kW of hot water is used daily it is assumed the saving is
5.5kW \/8 kW = 68.75% on hot water. This meets the requirements of SANS10400-XA: Energy usage on new buildings.<\/p>\n
